Poetry Can is also pleased to announce that it has been successful in its bid for Arts Council funding

and is proud to be a part of the Arts Council's new National Portfolio.

Kaite O'Rielly wins Ted Hughes Award for New Work in Poetry

Judges Gillian Clarke, Stephen Raw and Jeanette Winterson have awarded the 2010 Ted Hughes

Award to Kate O'Rielly for her retlling of Aeschylus' play, The Persians.

O'Rielly's The Persians is a beautifully poetic version of Aeschylus' tragic play focusing on how war destroys

people's identity. her use of language is contemporary, but never loses any of the historical context.

Templar Poetry Pamphlet & Collection Awards 2011

This award offers contemporary poets writing in English the opportunity to have their work published in pamphlet,

collection or anthology formats. Three wining pamphlets, along with a selection of the best individual poems

selected for inclusion in the annual anthology will be published at the 2011 Derwent Poetry Festival.

Poetry submitted may have been published previously and may be submitted simultaeniously for consideration

elsewhere.
