Members' Poems Spring 2016 (deadline 15th Feb 2016)

Members' Poems Spring 2016 (deadline 15th Feb 2016)

The Members’ Poems competition sets Poetry Society Members the task of writing a poem or poems on a theme chosen by a leading poet.

The six winning poems are published in Poetry News, the Poetry Society’s members’ newsletter, which is published every quarter, and also appear on the Poetry Society website. Winners receive a small prize, and become eligible for both the Hamish Canham Prize and the Anne Born Prize, awarded annually. Selected winning poems are also nominated for the Forward Prize for Best Single Poem.

The competition theme next issue is ‘Territory’, and our judge is Richard Price.

Richard’s collections include Lucky Day, shortlisted for the Whitbread (now Costa) Poetry Prize, Rays and Small World, which won the SMIT Creative Scotland Poetry Book of the Year Award. He is Head of Contemporary British Collections at the British Library.

Full competition details can be found on the Poetry Society website: www.poetrysociety.org.uk/membership/members-poems
