To celebrate the refurbishment works at the 15th century St Mary De Crypt Church, Gloucester, in 2018, they are commissioning a poet to be a Poet-Not-In-Residence to write for them in the run up to the re-opening in 2019. The selection process will be via poetry slam where Gloucester poets will read or perform in front of a panel of judges in an event hosted by Angie Belcher. The winner will receive a £300 bursary plus a special Not-Poet-In-Residence jumper! Second prize is £50
The winner will be required to visit the venue and write about the people and stories, past and present, alive and dead, who help make the crypt a very special place. There will also be a full programme of arts to celebrate the re-opening of the crypt.
