Creative Writing for Therapeutic Purposes (CWTP) is a growing field of research and practice. This course aims to prepare students for the challenges and demands of working in the field of CWTP. The core values are humanistic and person centred, emphasising people’s potential for growth, change and movement in a positive direction in their lives. There is a strong emphasis on creating opportunities to develop the personal qualities that becoming a facilitator of creative writing for therapeutic purposes demands.
The MSc in Creative Writing for Therapeutic Purposes is a Bristol and Ealing based 2 year part-time non-clinical MSc offered by Metanoia Institute and validated by Middlesex University. The course draws on the range of current literature on theory and practice in both creative writing for therapeutic purposes and counselling.

Taught over 10 week-ends per year,
Successful completion of year 1 leads to the award of PGCert in CWTP
Successful completion of year 2 leads to the award of PGDip in CWTP

Students have the opportunity to write a research based dissertation when they have completed the first two years of the course and obtain the MSc award
