BlueGate Poets are a poetry group based in Swindon who aim to advance the enjoyment and development of reading,

writing and listening to poetry by encouraging local talent and voices at every level.

The founders of the group are local poets, who collectively, have years of experience of organising and running poetry

groups, workshops and participating in the Swindon Festival of Literature.

The primary objectives of the group are to:

• support the development, appreciation of and interest in poetry

• encourage local poetry talent

• provide workshops that enable individuals to progress their own poetry

• recognise and celebrate the role of poetry in promoting wellbeing, social participation and personal development

• promote and publish, the work of society members

BlueGate Poets organise and deliver an annual programme of readings, workshops and poetry events in and around Swindon for

members and non-members.

Our programme relies on membership fees and grant funding. All funds raised will go towards the organisation and provision of poetry

readings and workshops. The schedule is rolled out over the year and members are informed of events by quarterly bulletins.
