Founded to support American poets at all stages of their careers and to foster the appreciation of contemporary poetry.

The Academy administers a wide variety of programs, including National Poetry Month (April), the largest literary celebration

in the world; online educational resources providing free poetry lesson plans for high school teachers; the Poetry Audio

Archive, a collection of nearly 500 recordings dating back to the 1960s; and Poets.org, our award-winning website which

provides a wealth of content on contemporary American poetry and receives a million unique users each month.

Promoting and supporting poetry and poets in New Zealand.

As well as publishing an informative, NZPS runs the Poets in Workplaces Scheme; an annual International Poetry Competition

that features two adult and two youth sections (to encourage and promote young writers); publishes an anthology of

prizewinning and commended entries and editor's picks from the Competition;  runs an annual Poetry Workshop with an

established poet as guest tutor; organises tours of local and of overseas poets with the support of Creative New Zealand

and other high-profile agencies such as the Australian High Commission; offers a Poetry Advisory Service; provides

information on poetry competitions in New Zealand and overseas; and hosts an informational and member-driven website.

Poetry International Web’s main objectives include making available quality poetry from as many countries as possible to an

international readership, encouraging poetry translation, stimulating the international exchange of knowledge about poetry,

and facilitating an international community of poetry-readers.

Poetry Ireland/Éigse Éireann is the national organisation for poetry in Ireland.

They serve all 32 counties and receive support from The Arts Council of Ireland/An Chomhairle Ealaíon and The Arts Council

of Northern Ireland.

Their remit is to act as a resource and information point for everything to do with poetry in Ireland serving poets, writers,

academics and any member of the public with an interest in poetry.
