The 2014 Cardiff International Poetry Competition is now open for entries.

The competition offers one of the largest monetary prizes for a poetry competition of its kind.

First prize is £5,000. Additional prizes are £500 for second place, £250 for third and five runners-up receive £50 each.

All entries to the competition will be judged anonymously, so this is a great opportunity to have your poetry judged on its own merits.

The hard task of judging the 2014 competition will be down to award winning poets Lemn Sissay, Rhian Edwards

and filter judge Samantha Wynne-Rhydderch.

Rules: Submit 2 haiku only.

Send only new, unpublished haiku. Facebook, forums, journals, magazines and any other form of publication

disqualifies the haiku. Entries cannot have been workshopped or otherwise seen, viewed, or read. New writes only.

FREE: There is no fee to enter.

Results will be announced by March 1st.

Awards will be delivered by March 25th which include:

Cash; Certificates for 1st, 2nd, 3rd; Honorable Mention Certificates.

First Prize: Publication by Pighog Press and 40 copies of the pamphlet

4 Runners up: a free place on a Poetry School activity

After initial judging, shortlisted poets will be asked to submit complete pamphlet collections for final adjudication.

Following the success of last year's competition, we are delighted to announce the launch of the second

Poetry School / Pighog Poetry Pamphlet Competition. Both organisations believe that pamphlet publishing is vital

to poetry and are delighted to be continuing this partnership and competition, encouraging poets to explore the

potentials of the genre and create innovative and imaginative new work.
